<p>The Stanford Challenge was a five-year campaign aimed at seeking solutions to complex global problems and educating the next generation of leaders. University-wide initiatives on the environment, human health, international affairs, K–12 education, the arts, and graduate and undergraduate education let Stanford supporters change the world and change students’ lives.</p>
</div>
<div class="r">
<p>This site was created as a final report on the impact of those initiatives, and a way to thank all of the supporters and volunteers for their efforts. Highlights of each initiative are illustrated with video, slideshows, and large images. An interactive map shows the physical impact of new buildings and construction on campus, and a By The Numbers section gets detailed for those who are numerically inclined.</p>

There’s a lot going on at the Stanford Humanities Center. A fresh design, supported by an extensive Drupal CMS backend, supports the Center’s various activities, including a robust calendar and profiling system for Fellows and Speakers. An XML-driven Flash banner adds some life to the site and makes it easy to post the latest news and events. Leveraging YouTube allowed us to include a video section without all the hassle and setup of streaming servers and bandwidth concerns.</div>
<div class="r">
<p>We developed a comprehensive set of wireframes to determine content and flow, and then designed a look-and-feel that complements the Stanford aesthetic but still gives the Center their own unique identity. Built with the Acquia Drupal CMS, the site delivers powerful functionality that can be supported by a relatively small team.</p></div>
<div class="r">
<p>Dries Buytaert, the original creator and project lead of the Drupal project, singled out this site as an exemplary Drupal-based Web design.</p></div>

<p><span class="title">A top national school gets a new home.</span>As the birthplace to many of the innovations that define today’s World Wide Web, Stanford University had justifiably high expectations for its 2008 website redesign, which is why they chose to partner with Rolling Orange to help make it happen.</p>
<p>Stanford is a world-renowned educational and research institution with a huge, ever-changing story to tell. The home page must to speak to many different audiences at many different levels: from prospective and current students to faculty, parents, alumni, and the community at large.</p></div>
<div class="r">
<p>The new home page design places primary importance on communicating newsworthy events and achievements that take place on a daily basis at Stanford. An innovative navigation system—featuring an expandable main menu panel, Google search, and audience gateway links—provides visitors with many options from which to explore the million-plus page website. Rich media features such as embedded video and a Flash-based tour capture the essence of daily life on Stanford&#8217;s beautiful California campus.</p></div>

	The Cantor Arts Center at Stanford is the home of diverse collections that span continents, cultures, and 4,000 years of art history, and includes the largest gathering of Rodin bronzes outside Paris. Rolling Orange was honored to work with the Center to design and develop the new online home for this venerable arts institution.</p>
</div>
<div class="r">
<p> A key goal of the redesign was to create an authentic sense of place that would entice more visitors. We achieved this with a photographic approach that not only features beautiful works of art, but also highlights people enjoying the work within the center&#8217;s exquisite gallery space.</p>
