MANAGING PARTNER, CLIENT SERVICES Jake McGowan
Jake is co-founder and managing partner of Strategy and Client Services for Rolling Orange. During his 15 years at the firm, Jake has earned recognition as an expert in web strategy for higher education working with clients such as Stanford University, Princeton University, UCLA and University of Chicago. He has also delivered Web strategies to leading performing arts organizations, including the New York Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall.
Prior to Rolling Orange, Jake co-founded Pantheon Interactive, one of the first web agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he was responsible for establishing client relationships with high-tech stalwarts such as Cisco Systems, Hewlett-Packard, and Microsoft. Pantheon was purchased in 1998 by iXL Enterprises (now Razorfish), where Jake became Vice President of Online Learning. Prior to Pantheon, he worked at SGI as a product manager of their ground-breaking and award-winning external website, “Silicon Surf.” Away from work, Jake is an avowed “Gym Rat” who frequents local basketball courts for pickup games, adult leagues, and the occasional game of H-O-R-S-E with confused strangers.
MANAGING PARTNER, ENGINEERING Derek Evans

Prior to co-founding Rolling Orange, Derek served as Head of Engineering for the Digital Media Services division of iXL (now Razorfish), which at the time was one of the world’s largest interactive agencies. A huge fan of amusement parks and late 20th century history, Derek publishes highly popular Flipboard sites about the early days of Disneyland and Ghost Towns around the world.
DIRECTOR OF USER EXPERIENCE Jason Fountain
As the newest member of the team, Jason Fountain comes to Rolling Orange after heading up all web design and development efforts for a top East-Coast-based digital brand agency. Jason’s deep experience and understanding of strategic design is matched only by his advanced front-end programming skills. In his previous position, Jason designed solutions for a broad range of high-tech, consumer-product, and higher education clients, including Nikon, Mattel, Covidien, Oracle, and Valparaiso University. At Rolling Orange, Jason heads up all user experience work and has led creative efforts for top clients, including UCLA, the City of Hayward, and the City of San Francisco. As a self-professed “food snob” Jason enjoys preparing gourmet cuisine using organic ingredients harvested from his own garden.
Front-End Web Developer Robert Armijo
Prior to joining the firm, Robert worked as a multimedia designer/developer at 1185 Design in Palo Alto. Before that he was a Web producer at California Eastern Labs, where his projects spanned everything from content development to Web statistics analysis. In his off hours, you’ll likely to find Robert cheering on his son Ryan and the rest of the Newark A’s, which is by all accounts the best Little League team in the region.
